Beginning of One Thing, End of Another!

I'm Back!   And apparently fortunate to say that.

I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from family, friends, co-workers, and even Cubs fans, who were never too fond of me and my opinions.  I have one more chemo session scheduled and then can officially start the "remission period". It appears I have beat large B-cell lymphoma.!  Yay!

It couldn't come at a better time. The baseball season begins today.  Cubs fans have every reason to be confident their team will get back to the World Series.  White Sox fans have now taken the role of the patient ones...or not.  Rick Hahn and the organization have finally taken a path and I feel it's one fans can buy into.  I am hoping for a three year rebuild instead of five years, but that might be optimistic.

Best part about the game of baseball is that it is EVERY DAY.  If your team loses or a player botches a play, they can come back the next day to redeem themselves.  Not sure if there will be enough days for this years White Sox, but look, on the horizon...Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, Basabe.  Here is hoping they all become household names.

Next, one of my other passions...SOCCER!  I know, not everyone buys in or understands.  I didn't either til I gave the sport a chance and now can't watch enough.

The Chicago Fire are looking to get back into the conversation in Major League Soccer.  Not only did they acquire some fine attacking players late last season and during the off-season, but they completely reworked their midfield with veteran players, and this week brought in German Star Bastian Schweinsteiger.  Basti scored in his Fire debut Saturday against Montreal as the Fire had to battle back for a 2-2 draw.  Catch me, along with former Fire coach and player Frank Klopas and Paul Tenorio, Fire sideline reporter and 442 contributor, every Wednesday at 6pm on CSN+ or always available at Chicago-fire.com.

My cancer and chemo treatments have slowed down my drinking of craft beers, but the summer Beer Fest schedule is upon us and I hope to get back to sampling the best of Chicago Breweries soon, hopefully beginning at Soldier Field, May 6th.

The Bears, the Blackhawks, the Bulls, the NFL Draft...all of it will be discussed on posts to follow.  I promise...for the third time...to try and update my blog several times a week.  The definition of "several" is up to me.

And don't worry, since I'm not with Waddle & Silvy as much anymore, there will definitely be many explanations of "What's Up Fred's Can!".
